Puente Program Seeks Community Mentors

PC Puente is looking for campus and community members to become mentors and help guide the next generation of student leaders.
If you're a dedicated professional who is passionate about sharing your life and career experiences, this is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in a student’s life.
Puente means "bridge" in Spanish, and for over 40 years, this national award-winning program has built a bridge for thousands of students, helping them transfer to four-year universities. The program's mission is to increase the number of students from underrepresented backgrounds who enroll in and graduate from four-year universities. While the program focuses on this mission, it is open to all students.
Once a student joins the Puente family, or familia, they work closely with a Puente counselor, English professor, math professor, and mentor. This support system helps them build the skills they need to succeed in college and their future careers. Students also get to participate in orientations, events, conferences, and field trips to university campuses.
As a mentor, you'll provide a window into real-life work environments and share your personal, academic, and career journey with a student. Your insights and encouragement can empower a student to reach their full potential and achieve their goals.
If you are interested in learning how you can become a Puente Mentor, please join us at the Mentor Outreach Dinner on September 9th at 5:45 p.m. in the Student Center Conference Room (SCCR). Come learn how you can become a part of the Puente familia and help our students become the leaders of tomorrow.
